Cazana

Data sourcing

Where Cazana data comes from, how it is combined, and how fresh each kind of data is.

Cazana data is assembled from manufacturer specification, official records, live market activity and our own modelling. Knowing roughly where each field comes from helps you reason about freshness and coverage.

What sits behind each area

  • Specification is derived from manufacturer data.
  • Provenance such as keepers, cherished transfers and registration data comes from official authorities, primarily the DVLA.
  • MOT history comes from the DVSA's testing records.
  • Mileage is assembled from several sources, including MOT readings and market listings.
  • Market and listings are built from live adverts and recorded sale events across the UK.
  • Valuations combine specification, market activity and mileage through Cazana's valuation model.

Freshness

Different data moves at different speeds:

  • Specification is effectively static for a given vehicle.
  • MOT history updates as new tests are recorded.
  • Live market data and live valuations reflect recent activity and are recomputed frequently.
  • Monthly valuations are fixed for the calendar month.

When a field matters to a decision, prefer the live variant of an endpoint and pass the freshest mileage you hold.
